  • Will epoxy floors crack?

Do Epoxy Floors Crack? Epoxy floors are very rigid. As a material, epoxy has very little flexibility, so slight shifts in the foundation can lead to cracks forming in an epoxy coating, leaving you with cracked floors that are difficult to repair without recoating with a new layer of epoxy–an expensive proposition.

  • How long will an epoxy floor system last?

Our industrial epoxy floor coatings are highly resistant to damage and usually last at least 10 years, even in high-demand environments. This far exceeds the lifespan of DIY epoxy floor coatings which may only last a few years. When properly maintained, commercial epoxy flooring can even last 20 years or longer without showing stains and damage.

  • How durable are epoxy floors?

Commercial and industrial epoxy flooring systems are valued for their durability and longevity. Epoxy protects your concrete floor from stains, moisture, cracks, and damage with a high-performance protective layer. It can withstand many forms of damage, including corrosive liquids, vehicle traffic, and abrasion.

Industrial epoxy floor coatings are ideal for high-traffic and demanding environments because they bind with the concrete substrate and are actually stronger than concrete. This increases the weight load of the concrete with a flexural strength exceeding 10,000 PSI.

  • What are the benefits and uses of epoxy flooring?

Commercial epoxy flooring is designed to withstand even the most demanding environments with the flexibility to be used in many settings. Commercial epoxy is seamless, and USDA approved which means it’s easy to sanitize and clean. It can even withstand harsh cleaning protocols to ensure a hygienic surface in restrooms, kitchens, and healthcare settings. Despite its strength and durability, our commercial epoxy floor coatings are also the ultimate in low-care flooring. It can be swept and mopped easily and never needs to be waxed or polished.

A commercial epoxy floor coating is incredibly resistant to wear and damage from foot and vehicle traffic, chemicals, heat, extreme cold, moisture, abrasion, and heavy loads. It can also be customized in many ways. If you have unique needs at your facility, we can recommend a specialized industrial epoxy that meets your needs such as epoxy that resists battery acid or offers static dissipation. The appearance of epoxy floor coatings is also highly customizable with many colors, patterns, and effects we can achieve. From incorporating your business or sports team logo to metallic epoxy flooring and striping to direct traffic, we can achieve any look you want.

  • Why is epoxy flooring better than traditional concrete flooring?

Traditional concrete isn’t as durable as it looks because it’s naturally very porous and prone to cracks, spalling, and other issues. An epoxy floor coating protects your concrete floor from stains and damage while increasing its tensile and compressive strength. Epoxy is seamless and nonporous to make cleaning your floors a breeze. It’s also highly decorative with endless ways to get the floor you are envisioning.

  • How long does it take to install a garage epoxy floor?

It generally takes just one to two days for professional garage floor epoxy installation. Our contractors will begin by making necessary repairs, lifting stains, and diamond grinding your concrete. This is the part that takes the longest. Once the surface is prepped, your epoxy will be installed. Depending on the type of epoxy system you choose, it may take more than one or two days. After installation, your epoxy should be left alone for 24-48 hours before it’s ready for light foot traffic. Wait at least 5 days before you drive on your new garage floor.

  • What is the maintenance like for an epoxy floor?

Caring for your epoxy flooring is easier than you may think. You can just sweep and mop your floor regularly to keep it looking its best. Epoxy flooring in a garage or commercial setting can even be pressure washed and squeegeed as long as you have adequate cove protection installed.

While very hardy, epoxy flooring can still be damaged. Use mats at doorways to prevent tracking moisture and grit on your shoes onto the epoxy where it can become imprinted in the floor. Most cleaning products are perfectly safe to use on epoxy, but you should avoid acidic products that can degloss the epoxy coating. Soap-based products won’t damage an epoxy concrete floor, but they will leave a dangerously slippery buildup on the surface. If your epoxy does develop stains, they can typically be lifted easily with a soft brush and TSP or CLR.

  • Can you put epoxy flooring on damaged concrete?

This depends on the extent of the damage. If it’s just some stains and minor cracks, we can repair those quickly before installing the floor, but if there are significant cracks or water damage, you may need to repair that before applying the epoxy.
